Default A Change that could make PUGs actually WANT rangers, and make the game harder =)

I was thinking, it doen't make any sense that organized armies like the Charr, White Mantle, etc would engage you only one group at a time, while their friends are within eyesight.

It'd be interesting if for every mob, they added a mob that acts as a shouter. Basically, when you pull a group, they'll come over to investigate, and when they've discovered that you're there, they'll send their caller to alert the nearby groups. The caller can be any member in the group, so you'll really have to watch which one runs away. You basically have to kill their caller to avoid getting any more aggro on you.

This would make ranged classes that can slow down enemies like Rangers and Mesmers more wanted in public groups. This would also make the game more challenging and it'd make more sense too =P

Sounds like a disgruntled ranger to me. Sorry, but this has to be the absolute worst idea I have ever heard. It's difficult enough to take on 3 hydras without the group of ten in the surrounding area coming in and obliterating everyone. Also, the flame temple(before the patch) would have been impossible to complete if they had callers.

no it doesn't sound like a disgruntled ranger
it sounds like he wants to add a little more reality to the game

of course... taking on more than 8 enemies is always an asswhooping with henchmen
so... I HOPE THEY DO IT... HAHA

I don't even have a ranger. I only included that because many rangers feel they are not welcomed in groups. They could start out so that the callers don't start running until they start losing in battle (hence, call for reinforcements) for the early mobs, and just change the AI scripting a bit for the later mobs.

Hydras aren't intelligent though, so they won't be calling. I'm just talking about the intelligient organization oriented mobs.

That idea would make it way, way too hard. Period. And this is a mesmer who's particularly fond of Imagined Burden saying this.

i think they should line the walls of the maps with archers who shoot at you as you pass by... they don't actually fight you... but its sorta like a gauntlet to go through due to the high number of arrows... after you go through the long area of barrages...
you kill about 50-100 gimplings which really really suck (using catapults/trebuchets to speed it up)
then you fight a few heavy fighter bosses... then you take on a grand wizard hiding in the back... standard procedure for every STORM THE CASTLE/DUNGEON mission

its already like this basically (IN MIND AND THEORY)... but REALLY its really like.. uh... fight 4 dudes

fight 4 dudes
fight 4 dudes
fight 4 dudes
fight 4 dudes
(and we are complaining about this... because...)

the minute you fight more than 4 dudes... WELL THAT'S YOUR ASS.... CYA
i dunno.. <hollywood movie> realism.. or beat the mission... which is it???

It's been said often enough, the reason why pickup groups usually pass up on rangers is because rangers are so numerous already, and many of them have little or no clue about the profession they're playing.

What you suggest sounds pretty nice, although it should definitely be restricted to sentient, organized enemies, perhaps scripted into certain maps like Riverside Province where stealth is advised. I fear most rangers will lack the insight to take along pin down or imaginary burden even if this would be in, leading to them being as numerous and/or useless as before, thus the suggestion would probably not help with the intended purpose.

A good ranger is a superb asset to a team, it's just unfortunate there are so many bad apples to create negative bias towards the class (pretty much like W/Mo's, although W/Mo's can generally still be of some use even without anyone behind the steering wheel).
